Presentation

Originally from Geneva, Mrs. Di Marzo Serugendo studied at the EPFL where she obtained her doctorate in science in 1999. She worked as a research assistant at the University of Geneva from 1993 to 1996 and then at the EPFL from 1996 to 1999. She returned to the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences from 2002 until 2005 as a master assistant.

Since 2005, Mrs. Di Marzo Serugendo has been a Lecturer at Birkbeck College of the University of London, School of Computer Science and Information Systems. Mrs. Di Marzo Serugendo has published as co-author 7 articles in international scientific journals, 7 papers as book chapters, numerous papers in international juried conferences and international juried workshops. She has co-edited 5 books. In addition, she is editor-in-chief of the journal ACM Transactions on Autonomous Adaptive Systems (TAAS) and is a member of the editorial board of 2 other international journals.

Ms. Di Marzo Serugendo is also founder and member of the steering committee of the annual IEEE International Conference on Self-Adaptative and Self-Organizing Systems (SASO) series since 2007. Her main research interest focuses on the notion of service ecosystems, large-scale services capable of self-controlling and self-organizing in response to network and environmental dynamics, and its link to service science. It thus opens up consistent and promising perspectives that can find fertile ground in particular in finance, geography and sociology. Its commitment is thus perfectly in line with the Faculty's objective to develop service science in an interdisciplinary perspective.
